Review: Cold Kingdom Tears Up Hometown Show
Anytime a band returns to their hometown after touring, it's usually a pretty big deal. Cold Kingdom gave us a reason to be excited.
I first met Cold Kingdom last summer at Northern Invasion, and their love of tacos was immediately clear to me then.
See why I wasn't surprised when I found out that their current tour is called the Tourito Supreme tour, totally modeled after a serious addiction to Taco Bell!? Hey, who could blame them!?
Last Friday night, Cold Kingdom tore up their hometown (Minneapolis) at Route 47 Pub & Grub. They brought along tourmates Sleep Signals, EAON (who performed their first show ever), and Imperial Fall (out of Wisconsin).
Aside from a few technical issues (vocals at the beginning of some sets, which were worked out within a few minutes), the production behind each performance was heavy! Tons of lights set the mood and distracted anyone waiting for food or a drink at the bar.
Here are some of my favorite moments from the show!
Which pics did you like best?
The laughs certainly came as well. My favorite moment: Sleep Signals singer Robert Cosgrove declared that anyone who "didn't like Batman" could "leave" before launching into a sick guitar-filled Seal cover ("Kissed From A Rose".)
I can't finish this piece without mentioning Rochester was represented at this show too! Our own Josh Kulack (The 9th Planet Out) is on this tour playing with Sleep Signals and did a killer job!
Listen to Val from 10a to 2p on 107.7 Z-Rock.
