Owatonna to Host Pirate Festival in August
The Owatonna Chamber of Commerce and Tourism announces the Minnesota-Iowa pirate festival is coming to Morehouse Park in Owatonna August 12-13, 2017.
The weekly email newsletter from the Owatonna chamber indicates they worked with the Owatonna Parks and Recreation Department when they discovered festival organizers were seeking a Minnesota location for the event. The Explore Minnesota website reports the festival features costumed characters, live entertainment and merchandise.
In other news, the chamber invites business-minded residents to be part of the Grow Minnesota! program. The goal is to retain and expand local business. Committee chairman Brad Vettrus will host an introductory meeting Tuesday, July 18, at 8AM in the upper level of the Owatonna chamber office.
The chamber welcomes new members Curly Girlz Candy, 121 W. Main St., Owatonna, and Pantheon Computer Systems, 207 N. State St., Waseca. The chamber announces that the Steele County Republican Party will host a community information night Monday, July 17, at 7PM at the Owatonna VFW. State Rep. Matt Dean will speak on healthcare. All are invited.
Check out a DeLorean
You can see a real DeLorean DMC-12 at the Steele County Historical Society Museum in Owatonna. It doesn't have a flux capacitor, but the doors do open straight up!
