Zumbrota, MN (KROC-AM News) - Two-way traffic is once again being allowed on the Highway 60 bridge in Zumbrota.

Motorists had been limited to one lane since MnDOT discovered a few weeks ago the bridge that crosses Highway 52 was damaged. MnDOT says an unknown vehicle carrying equipment damaged several beams on the south side of the bridge over the northbound lanes.

As a precaution, MnDOT closed the eastbound lane on the bridge, forcing motorists to take turns crossing.

MnDOT has now established two lanes that will allow east and west traffic.

It’s not known how long this will be in effect. MnDOT says it “plans to continue periodic inspections of the bridge until a determination is made on how to repair or replace the bridge.”

According to MnDOT, the bridge sees an average of approximately 4,000 vehicles per day.
