Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester teenager ended up in the hospital Tuesday after being hit by a vehicle near Century High School.

A Rochester Police Dept. report says a 15-year-old boy was walking south across Viola Rd with another teenager when he was hit by a vehicle that was driven by a 39-year-old woman.

The woman told police she was driving east in the middle lane when she suddenly saw the teenager in front of her vehicle. She estimated she was driving 40 mph at the time.

A witness told police the teenager “flew through the air” and then landed on the roadway. He was conscious when first responders arrived and had suffered cuts and scrapes. He was taken to St Marys Hospital to be treated.

The accident happened around 3:45 pm near the intersection of Cassidy Dr. NE.

News update:  The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office is reporting a possible drowning.
