So, Do You Like it in the Can?
I'd rather NOT take it in the can but if I absolutely had to, I would.According to Thrillist.com, beer is better in a can rather than a bottle.
Here is the reasoning:
- Because cans weigh less, they're more convenient. A 6 pack of bottles weighs about 7 1/2lbs. whereas a 6 pack of cans weighs roughly 5lbs. Let's face it, this is pretty handy when it comes to recycling.
- Apparently, beer doesn't last as long in the bottle. Sure, a brown bottle can block out 99% of the light but it's that 1% that can throw the whole taste off a little bit, if the beer sits for a period of time. Cans keep out 100% of the light.
- Cans are easier to recycle so they're better for the environment. Since they weigh less, it makes cans easier to ship, which in turn means the delivery guy saves on gas which means less carbon-dioxide screwing up the atmosphere.
There are some traditional brands of beer that HAVE to come in a bottle because they keep fermenting more AFTER they are brewed. If they were in a can, they'd explode. We wouldn't want that. Would we?
Finally, for me, bottled beer tastes better but apparently, according to the article, cans preserve the taste much better than bottles. If you ask me, there's nothing better than a tall, frosty mug of beer. BOOM!
So, which is it with you? Cans or bottles?
