Rochester Police Seek ID of Person of Interest in Arson Case
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department is disseminating a photo of a man described as a “person of interest” in a local arson case.
Investigators are requesting the public’s help in identifying the man, who was seen entering the Olympik Apartment complex prior to a series of suspicious fires in the building in the early morning of April 4th. The fire alarms activated around 3:40 AM and when police officers and firefighters arrived at the property in northeast Rochester they learned that three floor mats had been found burning in hallways on all three floors of the apartment building.
The fires were put out be residents of the building using fire extinguishers and water before the firefighters arrived at the scene and there was only limited damage to the apartment complex.
Anyone with information about the man in the photo is asked to call the police department at 507-328-6918, leave the information on the Rochester Crimestoppers website, or call the tipline at 1-800-222-TIPS. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may receive a reward if their information leads to the arrest and/or conviction of people involved in this crime.
