Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - St. Marys and the Methodist Hospitals in Rochester were among the Mayo Clinic hospitals given an "A" grade for safety in a twice-a-year report card issued by an independent national non-profit run by large purchasers of health benefits.

The Leapfrog Group awarded "A" grades to the Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester, the Mayo Clinic Hospitals in Arizona and Florida, along with the Mayo Clinic Health System hospitals in Austin and Albert Lea, Red Wing, La Crosse, and Eau Claire Wisconsin.

"This recognition goes to our staff and teams who work tirelessly to safely prepare and care for patients,” says Henry Ting, M.D., Mayo Clinic's chief value officer. "We continue to take all necessary precautions to protect patient safety during COVID-19.”

According to a Mayo Clinic release, The Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Score is based on 17 measures of safety data available to the public along with 11 survey answers submitted by the hospitals. The results of combined to create a composite patient safety grade for each hospital.
