St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Minnesota health officials are reporting a big jump in the number of people listed as recovered from COVID-19 and no longer needing isolation.

The state health department today reported the number rose by over 600 on Saturday and now exceeds 3,000.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in the state is now over 400. The state experienced another 24 COVID-19 deaths on Saturday and almost a quarter of the deaths reported since the start of the pandemic have occurred over the past four days.

Minnesota is also seeing a rising number of patients requiring ICU beds. The count jumped to 155 on Saturday. That's the highest utilization of ICU beds to date and is almost 40 higher than the number reported on Friday.

Statewide, the number of new confirmed cases fell for a third straight day in correlation with another drop in the number of tests performed. 435 new cases were reported today, raising the overall total to 6,663. 11 of the new cases were in Olmsted County, where the overall total is closing in on 300 with 8 coronavirus-related deaths.

There are now only a half-dozen counties in Minnesota that have yet to report a confirmed case of COVID-19.

Three of the counties border with Canada: Lake of the Woods, Lake, and Cook Counties. Hubbard County is in north-central Minnesota, while Pope and Stevens Counties are in the west-central part of the state.
