Pumpkin Pie or Pumpkin Beer?
Looking to skip the pumpkin pie tomorrow? Good news! You can swap that popular Thanksgiving dessert for a delicious pumpkin beer instead. The craft beer craze has opened the door for smaller breweries to experiment seasonal brews and offer limited time offerings to fit the time of year. Check out some of our favorite pumpkin beers below.
1. Pumpkin Peach Ale - Stevens Point Brewery
A unique adventure in flavor – fresh peach juice, plump pumpkin, blended with delicious caramel malt, aromatic malt, and Perle hops.
2. Headless Heron Barrel Aged Pumpkin Spice - Central Waters Brewing Co.
Generously spiced with nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves, this barrel-aged Pumpkin Spice Ale overflows with dark fruit, dried fruit, and hints of bourbon.
3. Pumpkin Batch - Samuel Adams
This beer was inspired by the flavors of the fall. Real pumpkin, roasted malts, and spices like cinnamon, ginger, & nutmeg combine with a lively saison character.
4. HornyCopia Pumpkin Ale - Horny Goat Brewing Co.
We mash in pumpkins with 2 row, Vienna and Caramel malts for a hearty ale with just the right amount of body. Spices added to the boil create a complex, yet deliciously harmonious, flavor. We used pumpkin and spice to yield a brew we proudly describe as “Pumpkin Pie in a Bottle.”
Whether you're an experienced craft beer 'sampler' or trying these unique concoctions for the first time, we have an event for you! Rochester on Tap, presented by MSTY - The Music Messenger, takes place on Saturday, December 12th at the Mayo Civic Center with two tasting sessions; one from 1 p.m to 4 p.m. and another from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There is also a special hour of VIP-only tasting that begins at noon.
