Traffic Shift Starts Friday at Rochester’s 55th Street Project
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - There is a significant traffic announcement for motorists in Rochester’s North Park neighborhood.
The Rochester Public Works Dept says the 55th St NW project that began in 2016 is nearing an end.
Beginning Friday, it’s expected traffic using westbound 55th St will begin using the new intersection at Members Parkway, near Think Bank.
The department says work will now focus on Fairway Place between Fairway Drive and the new 55th St. This will require motorists in the Fairway Drive neighborhood to continue using the existing roadway alignment to access 55th St. All prior detours will be removed from the project.
Once this stage of the project is finished, the existing connection to West Circle Dr. will be eliminated as a cul-de-sac will be constructed. This work is expected to begin within 2- 3 weeks.
RPT bus Route 19 will continue to serve the Fairway Neighborhood according to the existing schedule. As construction progresses to the next phase, a minor route modification will be required, but this should not affect any current stops.
