Midwest Hobbit House Is Straight Out of Lord Of The Rings [PHOTOS]
If you're a fan of 'The Lord of the Rings' films like I am, you're no doubt in awe of all the amazing worlds that J.R.R. Tolkien's stories take place in. Middle Earth had all kinds of amazing places to explore. Gondor, Isengard, Minis Tirith, and Eriador. But perhaps no land in Middle Earth seemed quite as peaceful as where our favorite hobbits resided, The Shire. Little hobbit houses built right into the side of lush green hills. You can actually visit the spot where the film was made if you can afford to travel to New Zealand! Or you can visit another hobbit house just a few hours away.
Airbnb lists it as 'The Shire of Covington Hobbit House', and it is located in South Sioux City, Nebraska. It actually sits right next to another unique property owned by the same couple, The Treehouse. The Hobbit House is just like you would imagine, built into the side of a hill complete with a grass roof. The rounded door leads you inside to an interior straight out of 'Lord of the Rings'! I half expected Bilbo Baggins himself to stroll in and offer me some tea!
Hobbit living is by no means fancy. This simple home doesn't have WiFi or a TV. It does feature two bedrooms, an indoor electric fireplace, air conditioning, a fire pit, microwave, and a record player for some old school entertaining. The owners say the the point of staying in the Hobbit House is to relax in a quiet and serene setting.
As far as 'Lord of the Rings' fans go, this is clearly the one Airbnb "to rule them all"!
