I recently learned of some bad news for myself and the town of Northfield. J Grundy's Rueb 'N' Stein Sports Bar and Grill will be closing it's doors next month, on September 16. The business has been sold to a group called Freetime Restaurants LLC, which plans on renovating the place and reopening a new dining experience next summer.

This was one of my favorite places to eat after work when I was still working at Sheldahl or just a nice relaxing place to grab a beer and hang out with friends. I still enjoy stopping in and grabbing a burger and a drink when I'm in town. The food is always hot and delicious and the drinks nice and cold. I even remember spinning the tunes there a couple of times a few years ago for station events held there. My wife and all her friends usually meet up there first before heading out into the Defeat of Jesse James Days festivities, which starts next Wednesday, September 6.

The Rueb 'N' Stein won't be going out quietly, they plan on hosting a big farewell bash on their last day featuring music from the Big Wu, and I'm sure there will be all kinds of other surprises that night.

Good luck and well wishes to owner Joe Grundhoefer as he heads off into a new chapter of his life.
