Mantorville, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Stewartville man is scheduled to be sentenced later this month for his role in a fatal drug overdose.

19-year-old Donte Wilkins recently pleaded guilty to a second degree manslaughter charge for selling a gram of heroin and fentanyl to Tyler Gray the day he died from an overdose of the drugs at his rural Dodge Center home last December. The criminal complaint against Wilkins, which originally included a third degree murder charge, indicated Wilkins began selling the narcotics to Gray in June of last year.

His sentencing hearing will take place at the Dodge County Courthouse on August 30th.

Wilkins is also awaiting trial in Olmsted County Court on charges stemming from a violent home invasion in Rochester earlier this year. He is one of three teenagers charged with barging into an apartment near the Rochester Community and Technical College in late March and fighting with the occupants.

The charges say some of the intruders pulled out guns and ordered the people in the apartment to get on the floor before leaving. Rochester police say the intruders were apparently looking for a person who had been involved in a previous incident. Wilkins is facing second degree assault and multiple burglary charges in the case.
