They're out there, every day, keeping us safe, and now the Rochester Police K-9 team has once again been ranked number-one!

I'm a big fan of law enforcement and the brave men and women who choose to put themselves in harm's way to keep the rest of us safe every day. My dad was a police officer in my hometown back in Wisconsin for over 30 years, so I have a special understanding of the sacrifices they all make to do their jobs.

I'm also a huge dog lover too. Which makes it pretty cool to know that the K-9 members of our Rochester Police Department (and their partners) are pretty much the best out there. And that's not bragging, that's just stating the facts.

According to a post on their Facebook page, the Rochester Police K-9 Teams just took home the 1st Place Top Team trophy at the annual certification. And, "Additionally Officer Clement & K-9 Wrecker took home 1st Place in Criminal Apprehension and Officer Osborne & K-9 Ty took home 3rd place in box searches," the post said.

That's pretty cool. I'm always in awe of the level of training these K-9 to achieve, and how well-trained police K-9's are. (Heck, it's a lot of work to get our dog, Asher, to merely heel correctly when we take him for a walk-- let alone to the things those K-9s do!)

So, congratulations, officers on your-- and thank you for your service!
