Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department has released additional information concerning a recent “use of force” incident that resulted in an officer being placed on administrative leave pending the completion of an investigation.

A news release says a Rochester police officer was at St. Mary's Hospital the afternoon of November 13th for the purpose of transporting an individual. The report indicates the person became agitated and resisted being handcuffed for transport. It also states attempts at de-escalation were not successful.

Officer Craig Sammon then arrived to assist the officer and used physical force to subdue the individual. The police department noted that no weapons were involved.

The news release says the additional information was provided in the interest of transparency. It also says, as a standard practice, the Rochester Police Department reviews all use of force incidents to ensure the actions taken were in alignment with law, policy, procedures, and training.
