Rochester Kid Comforting Cancer Patients One Blanket at a Time
Most 9-year old kids want to play outside with their friends, ride their bike, kick a ball, go swimming, BUT Sophie Neu, she has bigger plans - she wants to cure cancer! I can't even get my kid to do the dishes. I joke, but in all seriousness, Sophie is an amazing kid.
Her mom Lori, works as a nurse manager Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Mayo Clinic Children's Center in Rochester. Knowing her mom takes care of sick kiddos, her idea to help - cure cancer. Dream big little one, and someday maybe you will be the one to do it. Lori helped Sophie come up with a more present course of action, a way to make those kids more comfortable - blankets.
Sophie gathered her friends and completely crushed this project:
"Whenever her friends would come over to our house, they'd put on music or a book on tape, and sit around making blankets together" -Lori.
Sophie and her friends had made 25 blankets for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Mayo. Bravo, Sophie and friends! You amaze me.
