Roseville, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man and his wife traveled to the State Lottery Headquarters in Roseville on Wednesday to collect a significant lottery prize.

Brent Nelson recently purchased a Super Triple 10s scratch game at the Mills Gas Mart in Southeast Rochester and soon after found out it was worth $200,000.

His wife, Elise says the couple’s initial concern was keeping the ticket safe from their dog.“ We have a two-year-old Chihuahua that ate through our Christmas lights. [The dog chewing up the ticket] would have been a disaster.”

When he was asked to recall what it was like to uncover the valuable prize, Brent Nelson told lottery officials, “I was in awe, it didn’t really kick in until later.”

Since its creation, the Minnesota Lottery has awarded over $7 billion in prizes and has directed over $2.8 billion of lottery proceeds to the state’s coffers.
