Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester Public Transit will be offering free rides in its air-conditioned buses on Saturday while a heat advisory is in effect.

City officials say anyone needing a break from the forecasted oppressive heat needs to simply tell the bus driver they are taking the offer for "A Cool Place to Be." Wearing a face mask of covering is required.

The heat advisory will be in effect in southeastern Minnesota from 1 PM to 8 PM. The National Weather Service is predicting heat index readings will climb to between 100 and 105-degrees as temperatures rise into the 90s with dew points well into the 70s. The Twin Cities area and portions of south-central and southwestern Minnesota will be under an excessive heat warning.
