Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Olmsted County Public Works Department today announced it will be conserving its application of road salt on county roads to critical areas because the material is in short supply.

Officials say they still have road salt on hand but the Public Works Department has been notified by the road salt supplier for Olmsted County and many other government agencies in the region that it has run out of stockpiles and current orders are suspended this month. The county is working to obtain additional supplies and officials stress the snowplows will continue to operate on Olmsted County roads during all snow events but the application of road salt will be limited.
