Minnesota Brutal: Do You Know American Head Charge? [LISTEN]
Were they almost named African Head Charge? Maybe - and then they became the American Head Charge we know today.
Let's be honest, you probably already know these Nu metal experts out of the Twin Cities pretty well. Hell, I've known about them for a few years anyway... but until you guys pointed out that they're actually badass Minnesotans, I had no idea they were!
These guys hit the scene in 1999 with Trepanation.
You have System Of A Down to thank for their being on our radar at all too! Did you know this? According to Wikipedia, "After supporting System of a Down in Des Moines, Iowa in August 1999, System of a Down's bassist Shavo Odadjian was impressed enough that when American Recordings label owner Rick Rubin asked Odadjian if there were any bands he should check out, he told Rubin about American Head Charge. Six months later the band was offered a record deal with Rick's American Recordings, then under the Columbia Records umbrella."
Since then, they've put out consistent stuff! Lately, they've been busy promoting Tango Umbrella which was released last March. If the drums sound a little different, here's why...
Pretty solid, right!? Oh, and they are no strangers to hoping on various stages throughout Minnesota. Check this out!
WHY COULDN'T THIS HAVE HAPPENED IN ROCHESTER!!?? Man, that would've been awesome!
Tango Umbrella is amazing, by the way.
I think it's pretty awesome that this project was completed at all in the midst of serious line-up changes and inner band issues too. This probably fueled the intense album. My personal favorite track is "Perfectionist" by far.
That's all for now ladies and gents! Let's hope these guys hit Rochester somehow soon.
