Winona, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Lewiston man today entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder for the death of his girlfriend. 25-year-old Kyle Allers entered into a plea agreement today in Winona County Court that resulted in the dismissal of a first-degree murder indictment stemming from the beating death of 24-year-old Tasha Hanson in May of last year.

Allers was arrested after Winona County investigators found the Lewiston woman’s body in a wooded area east of Lewiston based on information provided by a family member of Allers, told authorities the young man had indicated he had killed Hanson and provided information on the location of her body. An autopsy later determined her death was caused by strangulation and blunt force head injuries.

The couple had lived together and had two young children who were placed in the care of family members.

A statement issued by the Winona County Attorney says Allers is scheduled to be sentenced on January 11th and will be requesting a 27 ½ year prison term, while the prosecution will be seeking a sentence of 30 years in prison.
