Hastings Man Sentenced For Deadly Boulder Crash
Hastings, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Hastings man has been sentenced to 10 months in jail for failing to secure the load on his landscaping truck and causing the deaths of a Shoreview woman and her daughter.
34-year-old Joseph Czeck earlier pleaded guilty to criminal vehicular homicide charges in connection with the deaths of 67-year-old Karen and 32-year-old Jena Christiansen. They were in a car that was hit by an 1100 pound boulder when it fell off a commercial truck driven by Czeck. The deadly incident occurred in Rosemount on July 9th, 2018.
In addition to the jail time, Dakota County officials say Czeck was placed on probation for 10 years and ordered to pay restitution in an amount to be determined later. He was also given a stayed for year prison sentence that could be executed if he fails to meet the terms of his probation.
