Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man wanted on a felony domestic assault warrant who allegedly violated a court order to stay away from the victim.

Sheriff’s Captain Scott Behrns says deputies were sent to a residence in rural northwest Rochester after an employee of a local financial institution called with concerns about the welfare of a customer. The caller reported being on the phone with a woman and overhearing her arguing with another person and someone saying “you’re not going to kill herself.”

The responding deputies spotted two people sitting in a car parked in the garage at the home. Due to the circumstances, the deputies decided to wait for backup and during that time a man got out of the vehicle and went inside the house before fleeing through a back door.

The deputies were able to identify the man as 50-year-old Daniel Tompkins and launched an unsuccessful search of the area using a K9 unit.
