Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former Rochester Public Schools Superintendent has pleaded guilty to federal tax evasion charges connected to a bribery and corruption investigation.

The Telegraph Newspaper in Macon, Georgia today reported that 49-year-old Romain Dallemand admitted filing a false tax return, under-reporting his income and over-reporting his itemized deductions. A statement issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Middle Georgia indicates the charges stem from Dallemand’s acceptance of a $100,000 payment in 2012 that was intended to influence his actions as Superintendent of the Bibb County School District in Macon.

The Telegraph report says Dallemand faces a maximum sentence of 3 years in prison, but federal prosecutors have indicated they will recommend that he receives consideration from the court for his cooperation with the investigation into a wider corruption scandal involving technology sales to the Bibb County School District.

Dallemand was hired by the Rochester School District in 2007 and served as Superintendent until 2011 when he left for the position in Georgia.
