Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former Eyota mayor has kicked off a campaign for a seat in the Minnesota Senate.

Tyrel Clark has announced he is seeking the Democratic party’s endorsement to challenge Republican Carla Nelson in State Senate District 26, which includes Rochester and areas of Olmsted County mainly to the south and east of the city. Nelson was first elected to the seat in 2009 after previously representing a portion of Rochester in the Minnesota House.

This is the second time Clark has campaigned for a position in the state legislature. After serving three terms as the Mayor of Eyota, he ran for the House District 26B seat last year but lost to incumbent Republican Nels Pierson.
