Rochester, MN (KROC AM News)  -  A fire broke out at a home in Rochester’s Elton Hills neighborhood Friday.

Fire crews were called to 2915 4th Ave NW around 5:40 am and arrived to find the roof and rear deck engulfed in flames.

They also found an occupant of the home was using a garden hose in an unsuccessful effort to contain the flames.

RFD says there was heavy fire damage to the exterior and attic of the home and smoke and water damage throughout the house. A preliminary damage estimate was put at $80,000.

RFD says the two occupants of the home and their dog made it out safely but their cat was unaccounted for when crews left.
