The 8th annual CANS Film Festival was a big success!

The Rochester Salvation Army partnered with Wehrenberg Theatres on Saturday, Dec. 5, in raising 12,113 canned and nonperishable food items for the local food shelf. In 2013 a record 13,103 food items were donated locally.

Moviegoers brought five cans of food to receive a special pass for the matinee showings on Saturday. Those who donated a total of fifteen cans or other boxed items received a pass for the day plus another pass for a future date.

The 8th annual event saw steady participation with good weather and a great selection of movies. The top donor arrived with his pickup bed full of canned food that amounted to approximately 1,500 cans. Wehrenberg Theatres will again award a year-long movie pass to the single largest donation received in the theatre circuit of 15 theatres.
