Bicyclist Among Victims of Fatal Crashes in Minnesota on Friday
Oakdale, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol is reporting two fatal crashes occurred in Minnesota on Friday and one involved a bicyclist.
It occurred around 3:30 in the afternoon in Washington County where the State Patrol says a 30-year-old man from Mahtomedi was traveling east on Highway 36 in the far eastern Twin Cities suburb of Oakdale when his SUV struck the bicyclist as he was crossing the divided four-lane highway at a busy intersection controlled by traffic lights.
The name of the 51-year-old White Bear Lake man riding the bike has not been released. The State Patrol report does not state which vehicle had the green light to enter the intersection.
The other traffic fatality was reported shortly after 11 o’clock Friday night in southwestern Minnesota. The State Patrol says 24-year-old Amanda Walker of Longmont Colorado was driving an SUV west on Highway 30 near Cottonwood when she crossed over the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound semi-truck. The truck driver was not hurt.
