Beer Fights Fires: A New Use For It

Well here is a new use for beer!   An off-duty firefighter from Houston, Texas was driving when he noticed that an 18 wheeler was letting off smoke and appeared to be in distress.   He did not have his fire fighting tools with him, so he asked the people in the truck what they had in their load.   When the truck was identified as carrying beer on board, he quickly formulated a rescue plan.   He used the beer to extinguish the fire by shaking it and spraying it at the flames.   It worked!  

Captain Craig Moreau mentioned to the Houston Chronicle that he had stopped in the past on his off duty days, but had never before seen anything quite like this.  He goes on to say,  "It's in our nature to help folks, but this is the first time I've done it with beer."

So remember kids, include beer in your emergency first aid kits.  It just might save the day in a pinch.
