A Solar Eclipse is Happening August 21 – But Not Everyone Will Experience it the Same Way
On Monday, August 21, the entire country will be ready for a solar eclipse.
The good news is that no matter where you are, you'll be able to see it.
The bad news, not everyone's experience will be exactly the same.
So, since only some of us will get the full, total solar eclipse experience, the website Vox created this tool to help you plan ahead in case you'd like to see how much of the eclipse will be visible where you live and what time will be peak in your area.
Just enter your zip code, this way you'll know if you need to travel somewhere to get a better view of it.
For fun, you can enter a few other zip codes to see how the eclipse will look across the country.
Salem, Oregon's zip code is 97301. They'll be seeing a total eclipse there. For Grand Rapids, Minnesota at 55744, it'll be at 76%. Here in Rochester? We'll be better than most at 85.3% with its peak at 1:04 P.M.
So just be sure to take a late lunch break that day and enjoy the show!
