Rochester, MN - (KROC-AM News) - Will there be any interest in developing some prime downtown Rochester property? The city may soon find out.

The City Council Monday will be briefed on a plan to seek interest from developers for the riverfront property between 2nd and 4th streets SE.

The property is owned by the city and had been considered for the huge Bloom project until that developer backed out last year. The city then decided to consider other uses for the site that may include public/private partnerships.

The council is being asked to give the go-ahead to a plan to seek interest - not proposals - from developers. Interested developers may also be asked to consider a project that could a partnership with the public library.

Responses would have to be submitted by the end of January.

After the responses are reviewed, the council would decide whether to seek formal proposals. A proposed schedule calls for proposals to be submitted during the 3rd quarter of next year and a possible decision by the end of the year.
