With the Vikings out, just who is Minnesota rooting for to win the big game Sunday down in Miami?

When the 49ers and the Chiefs square off in Super Bowl LIV Sunday down in Miami, many of us here in Minnesota will be watching, right? But, does the Land of 10,000 Lakes have a special interest in one team winning more than the other?

That's the question the gang over at HouseMethod.com answered earlier this week. They polled over 4,000 adults to find out which team we're rooting for during the big game Sunday. They broke their results down state-by-state as well as by men and women.

And, no surprise, here in Minnesota, we're firmly rooting for... the Kansas City Chiefs. According to HouseMethod, both men and women here in the North Star State are rooting for KC to win their first NFL championship in 50 years.

The story doesn't specify why, though I have a couple of theories on why we want the Chiefs to prevail over the 49ers Sunday. First, the 49ers play in the NFC West, and lately have been having their way with both the Vikings and the Packers. (They beat the Vikings once this season, and beat my Packers handily TWICE this year.) So, seeing them LOSE has the element of revenge to it.

Secondly, Kansas City is MUCH closer to Minnesota than San Francisco is, so perhaps the closer geography is another reason we're rooting for the 49ers. Though, come to think of it, I've been to San Francisco more times than I've been to KC, but I digress.

Finally, though, there's the Minnesota connection: Patrick Mahomes is the Chief's starting quarterback, and his dad, Pat, played for the Minnesota Twins from 1992 through 2003. So maybe THAT'S the reason we're in the Chiefs' camp.

Are you rooting for the Chiefs? Or, are you hoping the 49ers win this Sunday? Let me know on my Facebook page!
