[Watch] ‘SNL’ Pokes Fun at Wisconsin’s Bear Country

We all like to poke fun at Wisconsin; the cheese, the Packers, and specifically Aaron Rodgers lately. Before Rodgers, of course it was Favre, and even though he wore the purple for a season, or two, he still retired a Packer. How many times have you seen the headline - Wisconsin Man/Woman Does ____? You can fill in the blank with some weird stuff. Now I don't know if it's because some of the people are strange over there, or if we just hear about this kind of news because they report it more often?

Saturday Night Live put together a skit called "Wisconsin Women," with Jennifer Lopez, Kate McKinnon, and Cecily Strong who are workers in a rural hardware store. They attempt to teach a visiting couple (Alex Moffat, Heidi Gardner) about life in Wisconsin’s bear country.

While this takes place in Wisconsin, you could actually place this skit in Northern Minnesota (the REAL God's Country) and it is still true. You have to watch out for bears, and as anyone with a cabin up north knows, you have to be good to your septic system. Even the "city" couple, while a caricature, is spot-on.
