If only my luck in defying odds like these would be the same when I was buying a Powerball ticket.

Has this ever happened to you? You're out for a walk-- maybe with your dog, or your kids, or simply by yourself-- and the moment you walk in front of a random house, THAT is the exact moment they're trying to turn into their driveway.

My wife and I have been making a concerted effort to get Asher, our new Australian cattle dog pup, a couple of good walks in every day. So, we're out there, on the sidewalks of northwest Rochester, just about every afternoon, getting in our three miles or so.

And I can't believe the number of times this coincidence has occurred! It must happen at least once or twice each walk. Which seems kind of weird to me. I mean, what are the odds of Ash and me being directly in front of their driveway... at the exact moment the homeowner is trying to drive in or out?!?

But it's not limited to cars, mind you-- there are also times we're directly in front of a house at the exact moment the homeowner opens the door to head out with THEIR dog. (Which, given how much energy Asher has-- and as excited as he is to see other dogs-- is always fun.)

Maybe the odds aren't as large as I think they are-- and given the frequency with which this occurs, I'm guessing that's probably the case. But instead of this, couldn't the odds be ever in my favor when we're out in Vegas or up at Treasure Island or Mystic Lake?!?
