There is no doubt that NFL fans are passionate about their teams, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, sometimes that passion can spill into a brawl.

We have all seen viral clips before of two fans of opposing teams swinging punches at each other while in the stands, and other times it is just a verbal altercation, but which fan base is more likely to start a fight? What about which fan base is more likely to break one up?

USBets.com took a survey to find out which fanbases are more likely to pick a fight, win a fight, break up a fight, and lose a fight.

In October 2021, we surveyed 2,000 self-reporting National Football League fans from around the country. 50% of respondents were male and 50% were female. The average age of respondents was 34 years old.

The fans of the Minnesota Vikings only showed up once on the survey, as the 2nd most likely fan base to break up a fight, making Vikings fans some of the most likely peacekeepers in the NFL.

I have been to plenty of Vikings games throughout my life, most of them at the Metrodome but I have hardly ever seen an altercation break out. Every fan is always respectful of each other and usually fun conversations are had. A little trash-talking? Of course, (especially when the Packers or Bears are in town), but everything was always civil. I know that is not always the case with every Vikings fan, and opposing fans may have had a different experience.

Even when I checked out Lambeau Field for the first time, every single Packer fan there was civil. Of course, there was plenty of trash-talking, but there was nothing outrageous about it. Now, Packer fans didn't make the list of fans that would break up a fight. They did make the list for being one of the fan bases that would win in a fight, being ranked 7th.

What Fan Base is Most Likely to Start a Fight?

As you might expect, Philidelphia Eagles fans were the fan base that was most likely to start a fight, and the fan base most likely to win a fight. The Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steeler fans followed at the #2 and #3 spots in those two categories.

You can see the full results from the survey below. Any surprises to you?

USBets also asked respondents what the consequences should be for fans that get into an altercation and 62% of respondents said fans who get into a fight during a game should be banned for life from attending NFL games.

According to respondents, 62% say fans who get into a fight during a game should be banned for life from attending NFL games. Overall, a majority (58%) also feel that the NFL should do more to prevent physical altercations from happening.

What consequences should these rowdy fans face for picking fights in the stands?
