Tye Trujillo Follows in Robert Trujillo’s Footsteps Playing Bass at Suicidal Tendencies Soundcheck
It's safe to say that 2017 is a year that 12-year-old Tye Trujillo will never forget. Earlier this spring, young Tye handled bass duties for Korn, filling in for Fieldy on the band's South American tour. And just this past weekend he had a chance to jam with the band his father once played for.
Tye was on hand at the Mike Muir mural unveiling in downtown Los Angeles where Suicidal Tendencies were playing a free show for fans. During the band's soundcheck, Tye had a chance to jam with members of the band. As you can see in the posted video below, young Tye fits right in with the likes of Dave Lombardo and Dean Pleasants among others.
The weekend show was highlighted by a mural unveiling of Mike Muir in the DTLA Arts District. The band was able to play a few songs for the crowd that assembled, but when fans busted through a security barrier, police shut down the free show over safety concerns.
Tye's father, Robert Trujillo, handled bass duties for Suicidal Tendencies starting with 1990's Lights ... Camera ... Revolution! album. He went on to appear on The Art of Rebellion, Still Cyco After All These Years and Suicidal for Life albums before he eventually went on to join Metallica.
Though the young Trujillo appears to be enjoying a breakout year, he has graced big stages before playing Lollapalooza with his band The Helmets.
