Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News) - An alert neighbor allowed the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office to interrupt a burglary in process early Monday.

Sheriff’s Sergeant James Schueller says a 911 call came in around 3 in the morning yesterday from a Stewartville resident reporting suspicious activity at a neighboring home in the 2000 block of Nightingale Lane. The caller heard the sounds of breaking glass followed a vehicle entering the attached garage at the residence.

The responding deputies discovered fresh tracks in the snow leading to a window at the back of the home that had been broken out. The deputies also spotted a woman ducking out of sight when a flashlight was pointed into the residence.

That prompted the deputies to request backup and members of the State Patrol and Rochester Police Department joined the deputies in establishing a perimeter around the home. After issuing repeated orders through a bullhorn to exit the home, a team of officers entered the residence, which led to the arrest of 37-year-old Joshua Bale and 35-year-old Ashley Akemann.

Sergeant Schueller says the Stewartville man and Rochester woman are expected to face felony burglary charges.
