Rock Community Pays Tribute to Adrenaline Mob / Trans-Siberian Orchestra Bassist David Z
As reported last night (July 14), bassist David Z tragically lost his life in a horrific vehicle accident involving Adrenaline Mob's RV in Florida on Friday. The band was on its way to a gig in St. Petersburg when they pulled over on I-75 to fix a flat tire. It was at that time when the RV was struck by a tractor-trailer that veered off the highway. Several people were hurt in the crash, including David's Adrenaline Mob bandmates. Their conditions are not known at this time.
David Z was announced as Adrenaline Mob's new bassist earlier this year and was touring behind the band's new album, We the People, which came out in June. The bassist was also a member of Trans-Siberian Orchestra, having toured with them from 2000-2006 and 2010 through this year. He was also a founding member of the band ZO2, who were the focus of the IFC TV series Z Rock.
Upon learning of the news of David Z's passing, a number of his peers in the rock world paid tribute to the bassist, including former Adrenaline Mob members John Moyer (Disturbed, Art of Anarchy) and Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs), as well as Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick, who shared the stage with David as a touring member of Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Other rock artists like Zakk Wylde, Dave Navarro, Chris Jericho and Sebastian Bach also have paid their respects, while radio personality Eddie Trunk wrote a lengthy tribute that offers a nice overview of David Z's career.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the friends, family and bandmates of David Z and send our best wishes to the other members of Adrenaline Mob during this difficult time. The aforementioned tributes by David Z's fellow rockers can be seen below.
