Tip Leads to Child Pornography Charges Against Rochester Man
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A cyber tip has led to Olmsted County prosecutors charging a Rochester man with multiple felony counts of child pornography possession.
The criminal complaint, filed against 19-year-old Jacob Hruby in Olmsted County Court Tuesday, says an investigator with the Rochester Police Department was tipped off about three videos depicting the sexual abuse of children in January of this year. The complaint says Investigators traced the videos to devices owned and used by Hruby.
Law enforcement executed a search warrant of Hruby’s residence in early April and allegedly discovered a phone that contained the suspected files. The complaint says Hruby told investigators the files may have come from a messaging app called Telegram. Hruby said he left the app after receiving the files but then decided to look at the video.
Eight of the files were identified children through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children law enforcement portal. Hruby faces 10 counts of felony possession of child pornography.
The charges indicate all of the files involved children under the age of 13. The complaint says the files showed the sexual abuse of at least one infant. He’s set to make his first court appearance on August 25.
