The Townsquare Media Team had a blast cleaning up South Broadway as part of Rochester's annual A Litter Bit Better event. It was a cool wet day when we went out, but it felt great to help clean up the city. We didn't find anything too strange but we did pick up thousands of disgusting cigarette butts. According to event organizers, the most common types of litter collected were cigarette butts, plastic bags, fast food packaging, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans.

Thank you to everyone that volunteered for the community-wide cleanup. The final results were just announced and together we picked up 17,860 pounds of litter this year. Since the event began 13 years ago approximately 148 tons of litter has been picked up!

Listen to Dunken & Samm weekday mornings on 106.9 KROC to find out how you can make an impact on our community.
