Yesterday, I conducted another little social experiment. If you've ever thought you spent an obnoxious amount of time scraping your windshield free of ice, you're not alone!

My goal was to prove this - and prove this we did. I made this video detailing my struggle.

Yep - IT REALLY TOOK MY TWENTY MINUTES TO REMOVE THE ICE FROM MY WINDSHIELD YESTERDAY.

According to my calculations, most of us in Rochester spent anywhere from 10 - 15 minutes making sure our windshields were free of ice yesterday. Thankfully, a lot of you were kind enough to offer solutions toward speeding up the process too.

Here were some ideas:

  1. Remote start is your friend. Use it! Don't be a dumb-dumb like I was and be in such a hurry that you forget to start the warm up! It will make ice removal way easier.
  2. Spray hot water on your windshield. Ok, I'm skeptical about this one, but one of you actually did this and I give you major props for the attempt! I'm genuinely not sure how this would damage your car, so, proceed with caution.
  3. Get a garage. Duh.
  4. Use a shovel. Again, proceed with caution!
  5. Use cardboard. I don't know how this works, but apparently, it worked for one of you.

We still have about a month of winter left I'd say in southeast Minnesota - good luck!
