Summertime is Tubing Time
One of my favorite summer activities is enjoying a cold beverage while relaxing on an inner tube as it slowly drifts down a lazy river. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to to do just that for several years now. The closest I get to doing a little tubing is on one the lazy rivers in the many water parks my family and I have enjoyed over the years. My favorite one is at Noah's Ark Waterpark in Wisconsin Dells. Hopefully as my grandchildren get older we'll be able to take them on one of the many great tubing experiences here in Minnesota.
And luckily for me, a website called OnlyInYourState.com has gathered several great places to hit the river in Minnesota with a tube and a cooler. I've heard of a couple of these laid back adventures like the Zumbro Valley Canoe Rental and their seven-mile trip down the Zumbro River, and the outfitters in Lanesboro that'll set you up for a leisurely cruise down the Root River. I saw several people and families tubing while I was riding on the bike trail that runs along the river. Bonus points for this summer water fun destination because the town is a picturesque little getaway with several little shops, places to eat or enjoy ice cream and there always seems to be a flea market or event going on in their park.
