The headline above, and the subsequent 'generic' story (below), I contend,
is a crock of crap! You don't fight your way onto a HUGE festival bill like Soundwave,on another continent, and then blow it off and say you want to work
on a few new songs.

All I'm saying is that I believe there is MORE to this story, and I'm going to investigate and report back. As a person who goes to a helluva lot of LIVE shows, I'd be pissed if I had tickets in-hand and then the band who I really wanted to see comes up with a relatively lame reason for cancellation. This being the new STP configuration & their 1st trip down-under? C'mon..be square with us, bro's! Again, I'll report back! 'train' \m/\m/ hashtag #PULLINGaWEILAND

...here's the 'generic-story'
Stone Temple Pilots will not be performing at Australia’s Soundwave Festival after all. The band has bowed out of the upcoming traveling rock fest as they continue to work on new music.

A message posted at the Soundwave website confirmed that the band would not be performing. It stated, “Stone Temple Pilots regretfully cancel all upcoming shows. The recording of the new album has now gone beyond schedule and sadly the availability of the recording studio, engineers and the producer or lack thereof dictates that the band have had to cancel their upcoming engagements.”

Stone Temple Pilots are also bowing out of their “Sidewave” club gigs in Sydney and Melbourne on Feb. 25 and 26. In their place, Soundwave have called upon Aussie rockers The Living End to fill the void.

While the news is not good for fans that were turning up to the Soundwave festival to catch STP, it is good news for those wanting for new music after last year’s ‘High Rise’ EP. The band released the five-song offering last October and scored a chart-topping single with ‘Out of Time.’ However, singer Chester Bennington‘s commitments to Linkin Park meant the band was on a deadline and unable to record a full album at the time.

Bennington remains committed to writing and recording with both Linkin Park and Stone Temple Pilots, and the news that he’s been working on music with STP is a positive step toward a new disc.
