Southern Minnesota Deputy Hurt After His Vehicle Hit Some Cattle
New Ulm, MN (KROC AM News) - A southern Minnesota deputy was taken to the hospital after his patrol vehicle struck some cattle while he was responding to a call.
The State Patrol says 32-year-old Justin Bauer of New Ulm was driving in rural Brown County around 2:30 am Thursday when he hit a cow and calf that were "loose in the roadway.”
Bauer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The animals he hit were euthanized.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office says Bauer was driving under 55 mph due to foggy conditions. Damage to his vehicle was estimated at $13,000.
A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a traffic crash Thursday in northwest Minnesota. The Fergus Falls man was driving near Breckenridge when he collided with a car that pulled out from a stop sign in front of him.
The State Patrol says 57-year-old Scott Pourrier suffered life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing a helmet. The car was driven by a 66-year-old North Dakota woman. She was not hurt. The wreck happened around 7:30 pm.
