Six Family Members Injured in Rural Rushford Fire
Rushford, MN (KROC-AM News) - Six people were injured, four of them seriously, when a fire wiped out a home in Houston County early today.
A news release from the Houston County Sheriff's Office indicates the fire was reported at a rural property about a mile northeast of Rushford shortly after 12:30 a.m. All six members of the family living in the house were able to escape before firefighters arrived and found the home engulfed in flames.
A 45-year-old man and 3 young girls, who range in age from 3 to 7-years-old were airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul to be treated for serious injuries. The Sheriff's Office says a 40-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy were brought to a hospital in La Crosse with less serious injuries. Their names have not been released.
An investigator from the State Fire Marshal's Office has been called to the scene to search for the cause of the blaze.
