Rochester Prostitution-Related Blackmail Case Dismissed
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester criminal case involving prostitution and extortion has been resolved.
Police arrested 37-year-old Dontania Petrie last year after a man reported he paid her for sex and then became a blackmail victim. Police say Petrie gave the man a recording of the sex act and began blackmailing him over a period of several days. Police say during that time, she forced him to buy her a $15,000 car and give her cash totaling $48,000.
As part of a plea agreement, that charge was dismissed after Petrie pleaded guilty to a separate theft case.
Petrie was sentenced to 5 years in prison earlier this year in a prostitution case involving a Rochester police undercover sting. That happened a few weeks before the extortion case. Police identified Petrie as a "madam" who helped another woman meet with an undercover officer.
She is appealing that conviction.
