Rochester Police Request Assistance in Finding Hit and Run Driver
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department is distributing a photo of a black pickup truck that was involved in a hit-and-run last Friday.
The driver of the vehicle struck the bicyclist on the East Frontage Road along Highway 52 near the Godfather’s Pizza Restaurant in Northwest Rochester. The police report on the incident indicates the motorist had just turned onto the frontage road from 16th Avenue Northwest when the pickup hit the 77-year-old man riding a bike shortly after 11:30 in the morning.
The driver did not stop to check on the welfare of the bicyclist and drove away from the scene. A police spokesperson says the elderly victim was transported to St. Mary’s hospital and underwent surgery for serious, although non-life-threatening, injuries.
If anyone has information useful to investigators they are asked to contact the Rochester Police Department or they can leave an anonymous tip through the CrimeStoppers website or phone line (1-800-222-8477).
