Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - New population estimates from the U.S. Census show the Rochester Metropolitan Area now has the 203rd largest population in the nation at just under 220,000 people.

It’s estimated, as of July 1, 2018, there were about 219,800 people living in the metro area, which includes Olmsted, Dodge, and Wabasha Counties. That number is almost 2000 above the total on the same date in 2017, which works out to a growth rate of just under 1-percent.

The Census also released new county population estimates. They show the number of people living in Olmsted County grew by a little over 1750 people during the 12-month period that ended last July 1st. The 1.1-percent increase boosted the county’s population to just under 156,300.

Since the last Census in 2010, Olmsted County has added about 12,000 residents, which has pushed the population up by about 8.3-percent.
