Rochester Man Arrested After Road Rage Incident Involving a Gun
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A 22-year-old Rochester man was arrested on felony charges late last night following a road rage incident.
Rochester Police Captain Mike Sadauskis says Ryan Prasil is accused of pointing a handgun at the passenger of another vehicle during a rolling dispute that started when he apparently became impatient with an 18-year-old woman waiting to take a right-hand turn from Civic Center Drive onto 16th Avenue Northwest just before midnight. She told Police Prasil, driving a Honda CRV, passed her on the right by going up on the grass.
She then followed and when she pulled up alongside Prasil’s vehicle he allegedly pointed a gun at the 25-year-old man in the passenger seat of her car. Sadauskis says Prasil then drove to the McDonald’s restaurant, where the occupants of both vehicles engaged in a verbal altercation that ended when Prasil was informed the police had been called and he responded by driving away at high rate of speed.
Again, the young woman followed Prasil until he pulled into the driveway of a home in the 400 block of 18th ½ Avenue Southwest, where the responding officers found him waiting on the front steps with a young woman. Sadauskis says Prasil denied pointing a gun and claimed he was only pointing his finger at the other vehicle, but the officers remained suspicious because the victim had provided them with a detailed description of the weapon and a search of Prasil’s vehicle turned up a gun carrier for a .45 caliber handgun and a .45 caliber bullet.
Sadauskis says Prasil then claimed the items belonged to his father, but the father told the officers he doesn’t own any handguns. Prasil eventually admitted he had a .45 caliber gun in his bedroom, which led to his arrest on second-degree assault and terroristic threats charges.
