Rochester Drug Bust Leads to Arrest of Convicted Killer
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A suspected drug dealer who is also a convicted killer was busted Wednesday by Rochester police after a search of his residence turned up methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana - and $19,000 in cash.
Two handguns were also found in his apartment, one that had been reported as stolen.
The residence had been under surveillance and officers spotted 37-year-old Rashad Norwood near the apartment in a vehicle. He was handcuffed while the vehicle was searched and moments later, bolted. An officer chased him and caught up with him a short distance away. Officers then searched the apartment.
Court records show Norwood’s adult criminal history began with a 1999 murder conviction in Blue Earth County. He was given a 15 year sentence. He was also sent to prison in 2010 for a drug conviction in Dodge County. Four years later, he was sent back to prison for a drug conviction in the Twin Cities.
He was arraigned on the new charges Thursday and his bail was set at $500,000.
